Kipochi - M-Pesa for Bitcoin

(1/1)

curVV:
Remember M-Pesa? Now there's a new service called Kipochi (meaning wallet or purse in Swahili) which links to M-Pesa making it possible for "normal people" to buy/sell, send/receive Bitcoin to/from a mobile number. Getting Africa to use Bitcoin would surely be a great boost for the circulation of the crypto currency and this might well be an important stepping stone.

From Pelle Braendgaard, the creator of Kipochi:

--- Quote ---Nairobi, July 1st, 2013 Kipochi Ltd has launched a groundbreaking solution that allows people to send/receive BitCoin and convert it to and from an M-Pesa balance.

This enables Kenyans to receive money transfers from the diaspora in an easier, faster and cheaper way, compared to using banks and money transferring services such as Western Union and MoneyGram.
--- End quote ---

Contrary to what we see from most western countries, there will likely be less resistance to Bitcoin by African nations where its use could easily be substantiated to fulfil various needs. Or am I a dreamer?
